Binge Worthy and Award Ready

Netflix phenomenon Squid Game (2021) has continued its reign snagging Outstanding Series while also scoring recognition for its leading man Lee Jung-jae and visionary director Hwang Dong-hyuk. This comes to no surprise after the survival thriller smashed Netflix’s global charts in 92 countries and collected historical wins at the 74th Emmys ceremony. The critically-acclaimed series’ anticipated success at the awards underscore its cultural significance and the importance of amplifying international storytelling.

Meanwhile newcomer Hulu’s comedy series Deli Boys (2025) received major honors in the Outstanding Writing category. Cast members Saagar Shaikh and Poorna Jagannathan also earned shoutouts for their respective performances on the Pakistani American experience in the show. Jagannathan, fresh off her win at the Gotham TV Awards, put the honor best: “It’s thrilling to see our community play complex, flawed, fierce characters – and audiences are hungry to see our excellence across all genres.”

Spotlighting across all genres proves that there’s more than one type of API stories to tell. Notable picks were League of Legends action series Arcane (2021) being named Outstanding Animated Program and horror comedy The Parenting (2025) snagging the Outstanding Made for Television Movie category. No matter the genre or format, these buzz worthy titles are set to make waves this awards season. API creatives are dominating every corner of TV, demonstrating that real representation can range from romance, drama, comedy to animation and beyond.

As Tiffany Chao, VP of Entertainment & Media at Gold House stated in a press release, “Our Asian Pacific community is not just participating in the industry — we’re leading it and transforming it.”
