Falling in love? Perfect timing! Ed Sheeran just released the anthem for cuffing season. Known for producing wedding-worthy tunes, the pop romantic just added another gem to his discography with the “Heaven” remix — this time teaming up with Indian pop star Jonita Gandhi

The remix appears on Sheeran’s new four-track EP, Play (The Remixes), which revisits songs from his full-length album Play, released on September 12. The project highlights Sheeran’s growing connection with India, as each track spotlights the country’s dynamic music scene through collaborations with some of its biggest stars. The EP includes the fan-favorite “Sapphire” with Arijit Singh, and new remixes of “Symmetry” featuring Karan Aujla and “Don’t Look Down” with Hanumankind, Dhee, and Santhosh Narayanan.

A Cross-Cultural Love Letter

True to its name, the official remix of “Heaven” sounds like pure bliss. Lying in a hammock with someone you love, watching the sky melt into gold; it’s dreamy, intimate, and completely transportive. It’s the kind of song that makes time slow down.

The cross-cultural love anthem keeps the heart of the original intact, as Sheeran opens with the familiar verse,  “Heaven / Whenever I’m near you, I’m in heaven”  but this version glows with something new: a delicate Hindi verse from Jonita,  who opened for Sheeran’s sold-out Chennai show earlier this year.

“I think this is the first song of [Sheeran’s] to feature Hindi lyrics, and I’m so honored to be the one to do it,” Jonita shared in a press release. “It’s a beautiful love song, and I feel so honored to bring a little bit of my personality and heart into it. I’m so excited for people to hear this version!”

Her verse, about finding home in someone’s warm embrace and a love that feels written in the stars, melts into the track’s romantic sound. The chorus is their first duet together, with Sheeran and Jonita singing in harmony: “Just hold me in your arms / Dance with me and sway / As the sun closes on / A beautiful day / I can see you now / Though so much has changed / I’m falling in love / All over again.” Throughout the track, Jonita’s ethereal layers complement Sheeran’s warm and passionate delivery.

The track fades out with a cinematic, emotional outro as soft vocals ride over a lively instrumentation that’s easy to get lost in. The “Heaven” remix is a tender love song that bridges cultures, uniting listeners through its honest, universal sentiment.
