Rumors broke out August 23, 2021 that GOT7’s Mark Tuan would be collaborating with Korean singer-songwriter BIBI on “Never Gonna Come Down” — the latest track to join Marvel Studios upcoming film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)’s soundtrack. Just as the superhero movie features Marvel’s first predominantly Asian cast, they’ve turned to a long list of Asian descent artists to create the film’s score. “Never Gonna Come Down’s” release will allegedly be included alongside songs from the likes of Henry Lau, Jhené Aiko, Rich Brian, NIKI, Saweetie, Seori, Warren Hue, and Anderson .Paak.

Mark Tuan was speculated to be on the soundtrack after being seen rocking the red carpet at the movie’s premiere on August 20th. Although there is still no confirmation from the artists’ companies, Mark has hinted at the song’s inclusion. On an instagram post dedicated to the film’s premiere show, the singer captioned it “NGCD,” the initials for Never Gonna Come Down. His participation comes to no surprise since earlier this year, fellow GOT7 member, Jackson Wang was also heard singing in the background of the first official trailer for Shang-Chi.

Fan’s React

Understandably, Ahgases (iGOT7s, the official fan club name for GOT7’s fans) were in shock over the possible collaboration and association with the international scale of Marvel Studios. As BIBI is a beloved artist in the Korean R&B scene, anticipation is high as to what the single will sound like. With GOT7’s hiatus as a full group, any sign of a member’s upcoming activities are welcomed.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Tracklist Confirmed so Far:

The rollout of the songs for the track list have barely begun with only four tracks being officially revealed so far. The full soundtrack album is expected to be released the same day the film hits theatres on September 3, 2021.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) tells the compelling origin story of our titular character, Shang-Chi. The film has already garnered great attention for the inclusion of Marvel’s first Asian main cast. As each Marvel film has racked up the reputation for their use of music, many have shown interest in their soundtracks as well. The tracks have not only underlined the emotions of the scenes but have become iconic theme songs for the characters.

Many are drawing comparisons to Academy and Grammy Award winning Black Panther (2018)‘s album and anticipate Shang-Chi’s album will have a similar cultural impact with the utilization of Asian artists. Look forward to the rest of the tracks’ release until the film’s official launch date!
