Small Business Spotlight: Bold, Maximalist Trinkets with Toko Kriung’s Playground of Colors

Ever wondered what happens when a graphic designer unleashes their inner maximalist? Meet Alvina Ramadhanti, or Kriung, the creative force behind Toko Kriung. Born in Vietnam but Indonesian at heart (and a big pho lover!), Ramadhanti’s art shop is a pure reflection of her vibrant personality and passions. EnVi chatted online with Alvina Ramadhanti, owner of Toko Kriung, on illustration styles, her unique maximalism, and her striking color schemes.
Blooming in Full Color
Ramadhanti describes Toko Kriung as her personal playground. “It’s where I can scribble and draw anything that comes to mind, free of rules or restrictions,” she explains. This space, initially conceived out of “pure curiosity” and even as a “joke,” quickly blossomed into a profound passion.
Ramadhanti’s style can be summed up with a simple mantra: “The more, the merrier.” Her products – ranging from eye-catching stickers and keychains to art prints and tops – are a testament to her love for bold colors and intricate patterns. Inspirations are diverse and deeply personal, drawing from beloved anime like Sailor Moon and Paradise Kiss, blended with the enchanting aesthetics of Ghibli.
Indeed, every item in Toko Kriung offers a glimpse into Ramadhanti’s life. She draws things she genuinely loves, incorporating references from pop culture, anime, and Korean drama/music. But her art also pays homage to her Indonesian roots, with patterns and visual elements inspired by rich local heritage, such as Batik and familiar local cuisines.
