These Are the Hottest Fashion Brands and Products of Q3 2024 According to Lyst
Italian luxury brand Miu Miu was the world’s hottest fashion brand in the third quarter of 2024, reports fashion technology company Lyst. On October 23, the fashion shopping platform released the latest installment of The Lyst Index report, revealing the hottest fashion brands and products between July and September 2024.
Miu Miu Fever
After briefly taking the backseat to the LVMH-owned Loewe during Q2 2024, Miu Miu reclaims the “Hottest Brand” title this quarter. “As global demand for Miu Miu’s distinctive alt-girl aesthetic continues to accelerate, searches jumped a further 30% quarter on quarter,” shares Lyst.
The Prada Group-owned label had an interesting run during the last three-month period, earning visibility for projects such as the Miu Miu Balmoral pop-up stores in Asia, the film El Affaire Miu Miu (part of the “Miu Miu Women’s Tales” series) unveiled at the Venice Film Festival and the Fall Winter 2024 campaign starring Ethel Cain, Charlotte Cardin, Minnie, Little Simz and Caitlin Soetendal.
Lyst also notes the explosive popularity of the Arcadie bag, a popular item among the celebrity and fashion elite, sported by tastemakers such as Gigi Hadid, Momo, Hailey Bieber and Jang Wonyoung. In fact, the Arcadie bag in its suede version took the fourth spot in the Hottest Product list, with demand for the item soaring 588% this quarter.
Still Going Strong
Loewe, Prada Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Gucci and Valentino are some of the brands joining Miu Miu in the Hottest Brand Top 10. The Spanish luxury brand Loewe, which topped the Lyst Index in Q2 2024, is still going strong. This quarter, Loewe delivered relevant moments such as the opening of Casa Loewe in Seoul, the presentation of their SS25 show at Château De Vincennes and the Fall Winter 2024 campaign featuring Daniel Craig and Greta Lee.
Prada and Saint Laurent took the third and fourth spot, respectively, while Bottega Veneta landed sixth place. Regarding the Kering-owned Bottega Veneta, Lyst pinpoints notable activity including the brand’s first fragrance collection launch under the creative direction of Matthieu Blazy, their collaboration with Zanotta for the Spring Sumer 2025 show, and the star-studded front row consisting of Jacob Elordi, A$AP Rocky Julianne Moore, Imane Khelif and I.N.
Alaïa’s Success Case
Despite the notable names on the Hottest Brand ranking, Alaïa attracted special attention by jumping 12 places since the last report and ultimately becoming the fifth-hottest fashion brand in the world. “At the helm since 2021, creative director Pieter Mulier has reinvigorated the brand while respecting the house’s heritage,” notes Lyst. “Desire for Alaïa is deepening; demand rose 51% this quarter, with customers responding to the sensuality and meticulous craftsmanship of Mulier’s collections.”
The French brand, founded by the late Tunisian master Azzedine Alaïa, has sparked the interest of fashion enthusiasts with campaigns and celebrity placements featuring the likes of Vittoria Ceretti, Monta Tougaard, Taylor Russell, Tilda Swinton and Rihanna, who stole the spotlight at the brand’s SS25 presentation at the Guggenheim Museum during New York Fashion Week.
Interest in Alaïa products is also steady, with the famous Alaïa flats maintaining their popularity well over a year since they first appeared in the Q2 2023 Hottest Product ranking.
The Rise of Premium and Contemporary Labels
Amid a darkening economic and geo-political climate, the luxury market has slowed down in 2024. The Lyst Index report reflects this market trend, highlighting the rise of premium and contemporary labels such as Ganni, Puma, Longchamp, Coach, The Frankie Shop, Clarks and Toteme in the Index.
“This quarter’s data suggests the aspirational fashion fan is still shopping, but is thoughtful and open-minded when it comes to discovering, or re-discovering, the brands worth investing in now,” Lyst writes in the report. The company also reports a 109% increase in sales for premium contemporary brands on its platform over the last twelve months.
Additionally, Lyst remarks on the fresh new entries in the Top 20 Hottest Brands list: Ralph Lauren, Toteme, Victoria Beckham and Chloé. Notably, Ralph Lauren debuted in the 14th position of the Lyst Index, with the brand’s product engagement spiking 151% this quarter. Ralph Lauren was particularly present throughout the summer when events like Wimbledon and the Olympics unfolded.
The Hottest Products
Product-wise, the Q3 2024 Lyst Index reflects buyers’ interest in retro-style items and fall-appropriate textiles like suede. This quarter, the hottest product was the Alaïa fishnet ballet flat, first introduced in the Index in 2023. The item remains as popular as ever, with related searches increasing by 8% over the last three months.
Mirroring a seasonal interest in suede items, the Coach Brooklyn suede shoulder bag and the Miu Miu Arcadie suede bag ranked second and fourth respectively. In the same spirit, the Puma Speedcat and the Clarks Original Wallabees, both retro-style shoes crafted in suede and powered by Gen Z consumers, took the third and ninth positions in the list.
Worn by celebrity powerhouses such as Dua Lipa, Troye Sivan and brand ambassadors Rosé and Win Metawin, the Puma Speedcat shoe has experienced a resurgence with its 2024 relaunch. As per Lyst, demand for the sneaker spiked 523% in August, continuing the trend for streamlined retro silhouettes.
Other featured items included the Toteme country jacket, the Longchamp Le Piage Neo XS bag, the Frankie Shop Pleated Piper Pants, the Tom Ford Bronson Glasses and the Ganni Mid Shaft Biker Boots.
