BGYO Channels Romantic Yearning

The EP contains two pre-released songs, with their track “Trash” being the first. All about sacrifice, BGYO sing about being ready to “throw it all away” for the one they love — bringing back that old-school kind of yearning. The pop song has catchy beats that will make listeners feel like they’re falling in love. The members delved further into the creation process of “Trash” in an exclusive interview with EnVi last summer.

The fifth track on the EP is “Andito Lang,” which was released as a single in December 2024. The only Tagalog song on the EP is all about being there for someone special to you. The pop-rock song dives into heartfelt lyrics that will make any listener feel support and comfort. JL starts the song by singing, “I’m just here don’t you worry / Listening to every word you say / Won’t let you be on your own / Won’t let those tears fall.” The lyrics tap into the loverboy role of staying by your side. “Andito Lang,” which means “I’m here,” serves as an anthem that BGYO will always be there for you in times of hardship.

Their title track “Divine” is a feel-good love song that embodies the feeling of a love that transcends earthly beauty. The song pulses with warm, tropical beats that give off a laid-back, summery vibe. The music video also captures the fun and fresh energy as the members throw a house party with a beach theme. “It felt like we were just having a vacation,” Mikki told EnVi via email. “Every moment we spent there was so fun and light and it didn’t feel like we were shooting a music video.” JL shared that learning the choreography was a memorable moment for him. BGYO wanted something new and different with “Divine” which is something he felt they achieved.

Light My Fire

The third song on the EP is “Light My Fire.” Further fueling the feelings of desire and yearning, “Light My Fire” leans into a slow-groove rhythm. It’s a sultry track that encapsulates the irresistible pull between two people. The raw and passionate undertone of the lyrics along with the dynamic beats create an intimate atmosphere. The chorus goes: “You light my fire / You blow my mind / My one desire / You keep me satisfied,” pulling listeners into a mesmerizing spell of romance. As an ode to love, “there’s nobody else” in the world they would choose, Gelo sings. “Light My Heart” highlights a more mature side to BGYO, featuring a seductive tempo.

Heartstrings

Sometimes, romantic yearning takes a different turn. The song “Heartstrings” reveals the side of forgiving someone who keeps hurting you. BGYO show their angst in this track as they sing lyrics like: “Beating on my heartstrings / You keep beating on my heartstrings / I could give you ten rings / And you’d still be looking for the next thing, next thing.” The song reflects two people going around in a cycle of push and pull, causing tension on BGYO’s “heartstrings.” No matter how many times they forgive that person and the effort they put into making things work, it’s still not enough. It’s a melancholic touch to the album, but the song has rock elements that create a beat to move along to.

Creating an EP with four English songs has opened doors for BGYO to connect with a more international audience. In only five songs, BGYO unveils the range of the boy band, tapping into budding love and unrequited feelings. BGYO wrapped up their answers to EnVi with a heartfelt message for fans: It’s okay to feel deeply throughout all the stages of love.

“Whether it’s something that breaks your heart or makes it bloom, every feeling is a part of love’s truth. Love isn’t just about joy or comfort, it’s also about allowing yourself to be vulnerable, to hurt, to heal, and to grow,” Gelo said. “It’s okay to cry, to hope, to fear, and to dream because to feel is to live, and to love is to be brave enough to feel it all.”

Akira adds, “We’re just human beings, we feel a lot of emotions, especially love. No matter what happens even [though] you get broken, being able to heal from it and embrace the pain and learn from it and love again is an amazing feeling.”
