Mystery, Marriage, and Mayhem

The Red Envelope, a remake of the Taiwanese hit Marry My Dead Body (2022), has been a massive success, earning over 100 million baht at the box office. Produced by hitmaking Thai movie studio GDH (Bad Genius (2017), How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies (2024) in collaboration with the two stars, the story centers around Menn (Billkin), a reformed robber turned police spy. In the middle of his investigation, Menn stumbles upon a mysterious red envelope, which turns out to be a supernatural contract that binds him in marriage to Titi (PP Krit), a cheerful and confident ghost.

Menn’s new mission? Help Titi uncover the truth behind the accident that ended his life. As they follow clues, the pair finds themselves tangled in an illegal drug trafficking case connected to Menn’s investigation. This series of events pack a tale that blends elements of comedy, mystery, and entertaining suspense every step of the way.

A Perfect Blend of Action and Comedy

Billkin and PP Krit make their big-screen debut together by playing a hilarious yet heartfelt human-ghost duo at odds with each other. For PP Krit, who returned to acting after a break following 2021’s I Promise You The Moon, the role of a ghost demanded a lot of creativity. Reflecting on the experience, he shared, “Playing a ghost requires so much imagination. The neck-riding scene, for example, looks simple but was incredibly challenging — we spent nearly 8 hours filming it!”

Meanwhile, it was Billkin’s first action-comedy role, and he had to balance action training with comedic timing. “I had to make my character’s humor feel cartoon-like but not over the top,” he explained. The film even had him trying pole dancing and performing a lively bar dance sequence. “Learning different dances for this role felt like starting from scratch, but it was such a fun experience,” he laughed.

“I promise you won’t stop laughing once you watch it,” Billkin confidently said, with PP Krit adding, “This film isn’t just about comedy and action, it’s full of heartfelt and beautiful moments too.”

Titi Meets Mao Mao

Austin Lin, known for his role as Mao Mao in Marry My Dead Body, made a surprise appearance at the press conference. Upon seeing the Thai duo, he couldn’t help but gush, “You guys are so handsome!” Having recently met Billkin at Milan Fashion Week, the two quickly struck up a friendly chat, with Lin switching to English to communicate.

As their ghost characters, both Lin and PP Krit had to master different techniques to ‘drift’ around smoothly. The toughest part was balancing their emotions while delivering lines. Austin mentioned a special moving machine and praised PP’s skill in operating it, which led PP to share a funny story about flying out of the room on the first day and even bumping his head.

Lin shared his excitement after watching the film, “I absolutely loved it! Alongside the classic scenes, there’s a whole new level of Thai-style craziness and fresh laughs. I was laughing so hard during some parts that I almost lost it. I hope everyone heads to the theater to enjoy The Red Envelope and get a taste of Thai culture!”

Billkin and PP Krit, both 25, have been close friends for nearly a decade. Fans lovingly call them ‘BKPP,’ and their off-screen bond is just as strong as what you see on screen. The pair first acted together in the 2019 television series My Ambulance, soon after they had their own series I Told Sunset About You (2020) and it’s follow up I Promise You The Moon (2021), which earned them both commercial and critical acclaim.

PP Krit opened up about growing up alongside Billkin, saying that having Billkin around makes everything feel easier, even bringing them to tears sometimes, thanks to their deep emotional connection. When PP gets tired, Billkin is there to hold him on set. “PP needs encouragement. He loves to act a bit coquettishly, so I’m always cheering him on,” Billkin shared. Their relationship is like family, echoing the film’s theme where humans and ghosts become like family.

Wrapping up their busy 4-day Taiwan trip, Billkin said, “This trip was so much fun! Meeting fans at the theater and premiere was heartwarming. I hope we can visit more often. Let’s all take care of our health!” PP Krit added, “I’m really happy to meet fans during this overseas tour. Thank you so much for your support, and I hope to see you all again soon.”
