Daju & Densie Julia – “RAIN”

Kicking off Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, Hawaii-born Filipino singer Daju teamed up with Filipino songstress Denise Julia for a special remix. The two R&B artists bridged their cultures to breathe new life into Daju’s viral 2024 single, “Rain.” This chill, R&B track is a source of comfort for the lost hearts seeking closure. Denise Julia offers up a new perspective on “Rain”  creating an emotional back and forth dialogue between two lovers. “When Daju sent me the track, I was already in love with the rawness of it. I didn’t want to just jump in with a verse — I wanted to bring my truth into the story,” said Denise Julia. “There’s something powerful — and very R&B — about hearing both sides of heartbreak in a song, especially when it comes from two people who share the same roots. It’s beautiful how two artists from two islands, with different but shared histories, can echo the same emotion and find beauty in the same pain. It’s real, and it’s ours.”

“Rain” additionally stands as a cultural exchange between the two artists. Through their artistry, Daju and Denise Julia champion their heritage. “With the similarities between our two communities, from island life to the kindness, hospitality, work ethic and creatives, I’ve felt right at home, and I’m honored to help continue those ties between two islands with deep, Filipino roots,” Daju shared about the collaboration. “I couldn’t imagine anyone better to build on this track than Denise, one of the Philippines’ fastest-growing artists.”

Hikaru Utada – “MINE OR YOURS”

Revered Japanese pop artist, Hikaru Utada, is back with the single, “Mine or Yours.” Utada is known for her genre-defying hits and soulful vocals. Classics like “Simple And Clean” and “Automatic” continue to be adored by each generation of Japanese pop music. After her 2024 comprehensive “best-of” album, SCIENCE FICTION, Utada makes her 2025 return with this brand new single. “Mine or Yours” dives into a jazz-adjacent band sound that is propelled by Utada’s sweet vocals. In the chorus, she creatively explores the differences in her relationship: “Would you like something to drink? / I’ll boil some water / Coffee for you, green tea for me, the usual.” Two decades deep into her celebrated career, Utada still has so much more to show the world.

AP Dhillon & Syra – “OKAY”

Sometimes love isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and Indian artist, AP Dhillon expresses that on his latest single “OKAY.” Released on May 2, “OKAY” is the first track off the duo single OKAY STFU. The track is a fusion of traditional Punjabi instruments with layered synths and trap-influenced beats. The instrumental is deceptively light, however, because the lyrics tell a completely different story.

“OKAY” portrays a strained relationship that is draining no matter what can be done to try and soothe the ache. Both halves of the relationship describe feeling underappreciated and suspect infidelity from their partner. Despite purchasing several gifts and unyielding effort, their counterpart seems distant and cold. After every phrase and question, the duo repeats the word “okay” adding a subtle tone of resignation and dismissive-ness trying to mask the deeper hurt with faux acceptance. Yikes, talk about heartache. Although the emotional lyrics and upbeat instrumental are at odds with each other, the combination works well and in the end “OKAY” is a track that is an instant earworm regardless of its more somber tone.

Bryan Chase & pH-1 – “Show Must Go On”

Late nights, empty roads, and an ache in your heart you can’t quite name, Bryan Chase and pH-1 bottle that exact feeling in their newest collaboration, “Show Must Go On.”  The track is a slow-burn hip-hop song filled with melancholy and loneliness. The lyrics are dripping with vulnerability, the kind you feel when the party’s over and you’re driving home alone. Over a humming lo-fi beat, Bryan Chase opens up about the pressure to perform, the heavy weight of loneliness, and the demons of the past constantly haunting him. pH-1 joins in, delivering a verse that peels back the shine of success to reveal the deep fatigue underneath. They both repeat like a mantra, “The show must go on.”  Sentimental without being sappy, “Show Must Go On” is for anyone who’s ever forced themselves to smile through the pain, quietly pushing to keep going despite it all.

Maanu – “savera”

Hailing from Lahore, Pakistan, 26 year-old singer-songwriter, Rehman Afshar, known as Maanu, released his latest track “savera” and it is a must-add to your library. Maanu is known for his deep R&B sound; “savera” is no different and it’s a perfect addition to the artist’s growing discography. The track blends together the ethereal sounds of Punjabi music with R&B and elements of afrobeats that at first glance shouldn’t work but it does.

“Savera” is a romantic track that perfectly encapsulates the all-consuming adoration one would have for their lover, comparing them to the dawn – which is what “savera” translates to. Maanu’s deep, honey vocals convey the depth of his feelings in a way that is almost borderline reverent. “Savera” is for those who wear their hearts on their sleeves, echoed in the chorus as Maanu proclaims “You are the dawn in my eyes, how could I not be yours? Let every morning now begin with you.”

Zack Tabudlo – “MANLOLOKO”

Zack Tabudlo is back with fire in his veins and zero patience for games with his newest single, “MANLOLOKO.” This marks his first fully Tagalog track in over a year, diving headfirst into emotional pop-rock. Tabudlo is fueled with frustration, sarcasm, and indifference in this track. = The track opens with crisp guitar riffs and steadily beating drums. Vocally, Tabudlo serves the perfect mixture of jaded and just done with frustration seeping ever so subtly in his tone. Once the chorus hits, the drums are turned up a notch and Tabudlo lets loose with a “good riddance” send-off. A sonic equivalent of blocking your ex and then going a victory lap, “MANLOLOKO” is a revenge anthem for anyone who’s been ghosted, gaslit, or guilt-tripped by a love that wasn’t worth it.

Sharn – “Billo”

Indian Canadian rapper, Sharn Jhutty, known mononymously as Sharn, released his latest single “Billo,” an addictive rap track that echoes the vibe of smooth 2000s rap. The rapper is known for his warm vocals and melodic hip-hop tracks that draws fans in like a moth to a flame and “Billo” displays his prowess in just two minutes and twenty seconds. “Billo” is a humble brag, where Sharn states plainly that he became successful not through luck but through the hustle. He raps confidently about indulging in his hard-earned riches and flashy lifestyle in a way that’s tasteful and his repeated use of the Punjabi word “billo,” which is used as a term of endearment for a woman, hints that this whole track – and the expression of how he became who he is, is also meant to impress.

Rauw Alejandro strips things back with an unplugged version of “Carita Linda,” filmed at the landmark La Factoría in San Juan. Joined by live bomba drumming and dancers, the performance brings the track’s Afro-Caribbean roots into full focus while keeping its original charm intact.

As the lead single from Cosa Nuestra 2, “Carita Linda” already stood out for its neo-bomba sound. This version leans further into tradition, offering a sharp, culturally grounded rework that ties Rauw’s evolving artistry to his Puerto Rican heritage.

Grentperez – “Girl at the Station (feat. Jeremy Passion)”

In the midst of his world tour and just two months since the release of his latest album, Backflips in a Restaurant, Australian Filipino singer-songwriter, grentperez alongside fellow Filipino powerhouse, Jeremy Passion, teamed up on the track “Girl at the Station,” a track all about that heart stopping moment of love at first sight. While the notion seems shallow at best, “Girl at the Station” paints the concept in such a tender light that it dares the listener to wish for a love just as sweet.

Passion’s warm vocals complement grentperez’s soft timbre seamlessly to create a jazzy alternative pop track that will have you pressing play over and over again. Over a muted instrumental of gentle guitar chords and sweeping orchestral strings, the duo sing candidly about catching the eye of a girl at a train station and picturing their life together in a flash. On the track, grentperez admits that the feeling caught him by surprise and as the train shot past, he wished he could tell her of just how strong that sensation was. Passion puts it perfectly when he questions if it’s foolish for him to imagine that there will be more between him and his mystery girl when all he can dream of is her. In the end, the pair leave a hopeful wish that they’ll meet again as they croon “In the midst of my transit, I fell deep in love with the view. To the girl at the station, I’m patiently waiting for us to pass again.”

Damiano David – “Voices”

With “Voices,” Damiano David shares one of his most vulnerable solo tracks yet, introducing a more personal direction ahead of his debut album Funny Little Fears out May 16. The song confronts the mental noise that comes with self-doubt and internal conflict, framed through crisp pop production. Positioned as the album’s lead track, “Voices” balances vulnerability with control and sets the tone for what’s to come.

“This song is very special to me,” David shared in a press release. “It’s the final piece before the full story unfolds with the album… It captures so much of where I’ve been emotionally and creatively over the past year.”
