Each May, the Met Gala gathers the world’s most influential figures for a celebration of fashion, culture, and creativity. Widely regarded as American fashion’s most important night, the event challenges designers and celebrities alike to interpret timely themes through bold sartorial choices. This year, the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, honors the history and impact of Black fashion and tailoring.

From archival nods to sharp modern silhouettes, EnVi rounds up the night’s best-dressed stars.

Colman Domingo

Starting off our list, Colman Domingo brought major star power to the 2025 Met Gala, and as co-host of the evening, he did not disappoint. The actor and fashion icon stepped onto the blue carpet in a show-stopping custom Valentino look that was pure drama. Draped in a vibrant Yves Klein blue cape, Colman channeled the grandeur of Black dandyism, with gold embellishments that referenced the sharp tailoring of 1940s zoot suits. His look paid a subtle tribute to the late André Leon Talley, nodding to the fashion icon’s unforgettable 2011 Met Gala moment.

Colman also made it personal, adding a custom grill engraved with his late mother Edith’s name, bringing more depth to his already bold ensemble.
Later on, Colman revealed a patterned blazer that perfectly embodied the Gala’s theme of Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. From the first step on the carpet to the last, Colman proved that his Met Gala game is as strong as ever.

Lewis Hamilton

Co-chair Lewis Hamilton arrived at the Met Gala straight from the Miami Grand Prix. The seven-time Formula 1 champion wore a custom ivory ensemble by Grace Wales Bonner featuring a cropped jacket and high-waisted trousers gave the look a modern silhouette. But it was the embroidered sash, decked out in cowrie shells and mother-of-pearl buttons, that stole the spotlight. The accessories were just as intentional: a baobab-inspired brooch, garnet-studded ear cuffs, and floral cufflinks that nodded to African heritage and spiritual symbolism. Styled by Eric McNeal, the look took five months to craft, and struck the perfect balance between classic tailoring and cultural storytelling.

Tracee Ellis Ross

Actress and style icon Tracee Ellis Ross stunned onlookers at the Met Gala in a custom oversized suit, featuring various shades of red and pink, designed by Marc Jacobs. The standouts of the look are the larger-than-life pink satin wide-legged trousers and hot pink cummerbund around her waist that reveals a giant bow in the back. She tops off the look with a large gemstone ring and felt hat with a wide, pink ribbon circled around and propped to the side.

Diana Ross

Legendary music icon Diana Ross turned heads at the Met Gala in a breathtaking custom white gown designed by Nigerian designer Ugo Mozie, in collaboration with her son, Evan Ross. The gown is adorned by crystals and detailed beadwork, glowing under the lights and flashing cameras. Ross’ outerwear is a feathered piece that features an 18-foot train embroidered with the names of her children and grandchildren, a very personal tribute to her family, matched by a feather hat.

DOECHII

Riding off the high from the success of her 2024 EP Alligator Bites Never Heal, rapper Doechii has exploded on the scene not only for her top-notch performance and musical stylings, but also for her fashion. The rapper and 2025 Met Gala committee member donned the Met Gala red carpet in a custom Louis Vuitton tailored two-piece with a waist jacket and shorts. The white and grey short suit is adorned with the designer’s signature LV monogram pattern throughout and a Louis Vuitton Nano Speedy to match. She adds a pop of color to the look with a brown satin tie and brown platform loafers and socks to match.

Teyana Taylor

Styled by award-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter (Sinners, Black Panther), singer and actress Teyana Taylor donned the gala carpet in a custom Marc Jacobs dark grey tailored suit featuring bold red statements throughout with her waistcoat, leather gloves, and cape with exaggerated shoulder pads and flowers. Her outfit was accessorized with silver and purple jewelry and flower brooches. A red cane with  silver crown topper, a flower and feather-adorned top hat with a red satin durag underneath, and platform heels adorned with red roses along the front completed the ensemble.

Coco Jones

Fresh off the release of her debut EP, Why Not More?, and a tour slated to begin tomorrow, Coco Jones still made time to grace the Met Gala. Jones took a glamorous spin on a classic pantsuit. The cream-colored suit designed by Manish Malhotra features intricate embroidery and embellishments, reminiscent of lehengas. The deep-cut blazer highlights a statement-piece chain and features an extravagant, long train. The length of the train is the perfect companion to her nearly floor-length braid. The singer-songwriter and actress has been on our screens for over a decade, but she is celebrating her very first Met Gala appearance.

Zendaya

Zendaya made her Met Gala return in a custom Louis Vuitton look designed by Pharrell Williams, and the result was effortlessly iconic. The all-white ensemble featured a sharply tailored jacket, flared trousers, and a dramatic floppy hat that gave the outfit a cool, bridal-meets-disco edge. Referencing Diana Ross in Mahogany with a futuristic flair, Zendaya once again proved she’s not just dressing for the theme — she is the moment!
