Ley Soul – “Love, Bomb”

After an eight-month break from releasing music, this college student is back to conquer the neo-soul scene with her two new songs “Save Your Love” and “Love, Bomb.” The two new tracks come together to complete Ley Soul’s first EP, made up of six songs including her hit “Intergalactic Janet.”

The new song, “Love, Bomb,” sounds distinctly different from all Ley Soul’s other tracks with a guitar as the focal instrument and an increasingly more positive tempo. Every mesmeric note pulls the listener deeper and deeper into the haze of Ley Soul’s voice, while the instrumentals purposefully keep the song grounded. “Love, Bomb” also deals with the topic of love, a newer theme to the artist’s discography. Finishing the song, she sings, “Deeper in, to a place unknown / Meeting grounds for love, two souls / You arrived, oh welcome home / Intertwined, me and my boy.” While listeners may be receiving two new songs now, this is most certainly only the beginning for viral sensation Ley Soul.

Cafuné – “Temporary Lover feat. Riovaz”

New York-based duo Cafuné, made up of Noah Yoo and Sedona Schat, are tackling their feelings head on this week with “Temporary Lover (feat. Riovaz).” The song’s focal point sits at the narrator watching their relationship slowly slip from their grasp, but the sonic experience is a complete juxtaposition from the sad plot. Encompassing an internal battle and held-in feelings, “Temporary Lover” is actually electro-pop with a darker, deeper undertone. Riovaz and Schat offer a back and forth perspective on the relationship fading before them and come together on top of the palpitating beat.

The single comes as a release before their upcoming album Bite Reality drops on September 12. The album will ask the question of what a world with emerging technology and AI may look like, including the music space. No matter what happens in the future, Cafune are planning on staying themselves, and if reality wants to bite them, they’ll bite back. The duo is releasing the album at a point where them and their musical personality is stronger and more defined than ever. To celebrate the release, they are departing on a two-month tour across North America, while also marking the incredible feat of their largest tour yet.

bella amor – “couch”

Bella amor is channeling an early 2010s pop-rock angst in her latest song “couch.” As the fourth track on her debut EP this is where i’m at, “couch” dives into finally shedding past connections that don’t fit into your life anymore. “I don’t wanna be someone that you know,  / I washed my hands clean of your Holy Ghost,” amor repeats throughout the song. Amor shows that things start to look up in life when that person is no longer part of it. The shift between steady vocals and quiet guitar chords to layered shouts backed by pounding drums and guitar riffs provides a contrast in the chorus that emulates all the powerful surge of emotions. If you’re needing a fix of coming of age nostalgia, “couch” is the best song to add to your favorites!

Saweetie – “superstars (feat. TWICE)”

Stealing the spotlight in her new EP, “superstars (feat. TWICE)” is rapper Saweetie’s newest international single. The song combines TWICE’s signature soprano and bubbly sound with Saweetie’s cheeky rap lines to create a song versatile enough for any summer scenario. The collaboration garnered mass attention online, attracting views from ONCE and the Icy Gang, but especially those who are fans of both. The single also came ahead of TWICE’s Lollapalooza performance, encouraging fans to hope for a surprise popup from Saweetie herself, while others are overall hoping it will one day be performed together.

Both artists have been on the move this season with TWICE releasing their deluxe album, THIS IS FOR, two weeks ago, and Saweetie releasing back to back singles prior to her EP, HELLA PRESSURE. After announcing that she’s entering a new era of music, anything is possible for Saweetie, and we are sat and ready.

The Two Lips – “clue”

The Two Lips have perfectly captured the beauty and confusion of relationships as a woman with “clue,” their new song to match their single from June, “talk.” The pair put the “two” in Two Lips as a best friend duo (Jewlz and Andrea) and have recently been on a mission to conquer Arizona and California on their “Kiss & Tell” tour. Now, ahead of the remaining California shows, they’ve released “clue,” a song dripping with the feminine experience of truly not having a clue.

The song focuses on the singers’ experiences being in relationships that aren’t really working. The battle lies in not knowing how to approach resolving the problems they’re having since neither one wants to leave the relationship. “Clue” is described by the two as being “quintessential two lips in our humble opinion!” and we have to agree. Though the song’s topic is rather heavy, the tempo is light with a sparkling feeling injected in every line. From the echoing lyrics in the chorus to the catchy dance moves seen in the visualizer, “clue” is a true bedroom pop tune and a song every hopeless romantic needs on their playlist.

The sweet and soft song has a similar name to one of his earliest singles, “wildflower,” but sonically is very different. Though the track holds Yung Kai’s signature loving and vintage feel, it embraces a slower and more serene quality. The song is filled with fifteen lines of lyrics, patiently sung for two and a half minutes while being supported by a heartwrenchingly beautiful guitar. Slowly solidifying his aesthetic, Yung Kai is all about the natural beauty of the world while finding the same beauty in a lover’s personality.

Soon he will be setting off on his “flower moon and star” tour with shows in Asia, North America, and Europe. Make sure to get tickets to see “flower” and other iconic Yung Kai’s songs live!
