From exciting in-game developments to new title releases, the first six months of 2024 has been action-packed for the video game industry. As the number of game enthusiasts at EnVi increases, so does the list of games being discussed in private messages and group chats. Below, EnVi outlines some of the best games — both new and old — that we have played this year, ranging from adventurous role-playing games (RPGs) to relaxing simulation games.

Bandle Tale

Bandle Tale, the sixth and last production to come from Riot Forge, was released in February. The game is a role-playing farm life sim starring a familiar cast of League of Legends characters. It provides a range of missions for players to complete as they work to rescue their character’s best friend. With its vibrant pixel art and heroic storyline, Bandle Tale was the perfect accompaniment to the late winter season. Bandle Tale is available on Nintendo Switch and Steam.

Little Kitty, Big City

Double Dagger Studio released its cozy debut game, Little Kitty, Big City, in May. Upon starting the game, players embark on a journey as a house cat trying to return home. The game is filled with bonus finds that unlock new, adorable character customization options as you navigate the city, interact with other animals, and grab the attention of human passersby. Little Kitty, Big City is available on Steam, the Nintendo Switch, and Xbox.

Wuthering Waves

Released in May, action RPG Wuthering Waves generated buzz in the gacha community. Developed by Chinese developer Kuro Games, the game sends players on an open-world journey full of Echoes to conquer, Resonators to befriend, and unknown terrain to explore. After waking up in an amnesiac state as Rover, players must find their lost memories while overcoming disasters along the way. In addition to its eye-catching anime art style, the game showcases fluid combat alongside unique character builds. Wuthering Waves is available on iOS, Android, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!

In SEGA’s rhythm mobile game Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! — starring the beloved Vocaloid sextet comprising Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka, Kagamine Rin and Len, MEIKO, and KAITO — players enter a mysterious place called “SEKAI.” Players select their own unit members from an original cast of 20 human characters split into themed units: Leo/need, MORE MORE JUMP!, Vivid BAD SQUAD, and WonderlandsxShowtimes. Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage! is a spin-off game from SEGA’s famous series Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA, another lively rhythm game available on Nintendo Switch, consoles, and PC.

Breezer

Breezer, from developer Breezer Ltd, is a mobile game designed to bring fun into fitness. The app uses the workout and movement activity data tracked by phones as in-game currency, which players can use to build a small town and earn revenue. As more items are added to the town, either more customers are attracted or earnings per customer are increased. A global scoreboard tracks the players with highest in-game revenue and resets at the beginning of every month for a fresh start.

Lethal Company

Lethal Company is a multiplayer horror survival game that was released in October 2023 and gained popularity with a patch release in early December. As players work to fulfill the company quota by collecting scraps from abandoned moons, they encounter monsters, hazards, and traps. Lethal Company was developed by Zeekerss, whose previous Roblox developing experience carried over in a form of humor displayed in Lethal Company. Lethal Company is available on Steam and Android.

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley, one of the most popular farming sims, has maintained a loyal fanbase since its last major update four years ago. It is one of the best-selling games produced by a solo developer, giving players a cozy farming, foraging, mining, fishing, fighting and wooing experience in Pelican Town. Stardew Valley is available on the Nintendo Switch, IOS, Android, and Playstation 4.

Valorant

Valorant is a team-based first-person shooter by Riot Games and originally released in 2020. In the game, players utilize different agents’ abilities to prevent the enemy team from completing their objectives. This year, Riot Games introduced Clove, the game’s first non-binary agent, in honor of the company’s promise to be more inclusive. Additionally, the Valorant Champions Tour has gained popularity and attracted new viewers worldwide this year.
