If you know, you know that the latest record from OMEGA X is a special one. For those who donโt know, the 11-member K-pop groupโs third EP, iykyk โ the acronym for the term โif you know, you knowโ โ celebrates the chance to start anew. It is also the groupโs first album since they signed with their new agency, IPQ Corp, earlier this year.
Members Hangyeom, Jaehan, Junghoon, Xen, and Yechan participated in songwriting, composition, and production for various tracks on the EP. But the entire group had a hand in a special song dedicated to their supportive fanbase โ FOR X. Turning a brand new page and reclaiming their place in the music industry, iykyk is a pivotal album for OMEGA Xโs career.
Itโs Prime Time
Trailblazing their future, the group opens the EP with โLOUDERโ โ an energetic track that sets the record straight that OMEGA X are here to stay. With bold trap elements, a driving drumbeat, and chants from the members, โLOUDERโ captures OMEGA Xโs tenacity. Title track โJUNK FOODโ also falls within the trap genre but is supported by stronger hip-hop elements, such as scratching. Bordering on chaotic with its fluctuating synths mimicking sirens, this song channels the groupโs striking nature that can be heard throughout previous title tracks like โLOVE ME LIKEโ and โWHATโS GOINโ ON.โ The music video for โJUNK FOODโ is just as captivating as OMEGA X with an array of visual effects, sharp choreography, and a heavy amount of close-up shots.
Tender Tunes
Shifting in sound, electropop B-sides โTouchโ and โHEY!โ tune into a softer yet emotionally charged essence. โTouchโ is full of tender yearning and romance as they sing, โBabe, Iโm levitating (to you) / I canโt stop, canโt stop smiling at your little lips.โ Meanwhile, in โHEY!โ OMEGA X promise their fans, โI know / Weโll always be with you.โ
The sentiment of love towards their fanbase extends into the final track of the album, too. โISLANDโ was first revealed to FOR X during OMEGA Xโs mini fan meeting they held to celebrate the second anniversary of the groupโs debut. Wrapped up in a pop punk-influenced sound lies OMEGA Xโs unwavering love for their fans. “ISLAND” features lyrics written by all 11 members and an impressive guitar solo by member Hyuk. It’s a heartfelt gesture of their appreciation for the fans who have stuck by their side. Reassuring FOR X that nothing can separate them, the members sing, โFinally, weโre together, just only you and I.โ
To The Future
