Hearts2Hearts Showcase A Sprightly Charm With Their First-Ever Comeback Single “STYLE”

On February 24, 2025, SM Entertainment’s newest girl group Hearts2Hearts was officially introduced to the world. The unveiling of the eight-piece girl group comes nearly five years after the debut of aespa and three years after the departure of Lee Sooman, the founder and executive producer of SM Entertainment. From the revisitation of old practices and the integration of new ideas, Hearts2Hearts debut marks a significant turning point for the entertainment agency as it enters its 30th year of operation.
In their long-awaited debut album The Chase, the octet showcased a mysterious atmosphere through a title track of the same name and the b-side “Butterflies” — which illustrated a message of anticipation as the members face the nebulous path ahead. On June 18th, the group made their first-ever comeback with the digital single “STYLE,” which unleashes a new and exciting charm.

Just ahead of its official release, a sneak preview of “STYLE” was shared via TikTok — with some fans expressing surprise at the change in sound from their debut. Although there is an apparent sonic dissimilarity between the tracks, the group’s core mission, which revolves around the concept of empathy remains strong.
Across various press releases, SM Entertainment explained the group’s pathos stating, “Hearts2Hearts is a team that aims to connect with global fans and move forward to a bigger ‘us’ through their own mysterious and beautiful music world filled with various emotions and sincere messages, the expectations for new colors and different charms will increase with each new release.” Join EnVi as we break down “STYLE” and revisit the exciting roll-out.
I Appreciate You As You Are
All hands were on deck for Hearts2Hearts’ first-ever comeback, with hit-makers from across the globe contributing their signature flair to the group’s newest single. Grammy-nominated producer Mike Daley and composer Mitchell Owens led production for “STYLE,” in collaboration with singer-songwriters Adrian McKinnon and SAARA, who contributed English lyrics, and renowned producer KENZIE, who penned the Korean lyrics. As listeners press play on “STYLE,” they become someone admired by the members, not for one reason in particular, but simply because they exist — just as they are. Through the unification of wide-eyed lyrics and a groovy bass, the feelings of a first-time fascination are depicted in the uptempo dance song.
The music video for “STYLE” takes place in a familiar school setting — similar to their music video for “Butterflies.” The recurring motif choice likely emphasizes the idea of belonging and growth that they showcase across their music. As the song starts, we see the eight members on their way to school, individually or in pairs. The relationship amongst all of them doesn’t seem tight-knit at the moment, but there lies a looming curiosity that unites them all. “Why do you always stand out?” Yuha sings in the opening line. “You’re not trying too hard / You don’t dress up, easy peasy / But it’s so weird, why is it only you I see?”
The remainder of the first verse begins with bright vocals from Ian and Stella, and ends with a rap carried out by Juun, Jiwoo, and A-na. The lyrics express an array of questions from the members about the music ‘the admired’ is listening to, by Hearts2Hearts, of course, as well as their after-school hobbies, and even their favorite color. Continuing into the pre-chorus, signs of infatuation remain with Yuha, A-na, and Carmen asking ‘the admired’ if they feel the blooming connection. “Your hand next to mine makes strange electricity / you feel it right? It’s starting now, one two three.” As the chorus begins, they refuse to hold back with their feelings and they fully express the impact that ‘the admired’ has on them.”Baby, you make me smile / Your style is always right / I like it even more because it’s you.”
The thoughtful production of “STYLE” presents an anthem of confidence for the summer and forevermore. As the members openly express their admiration for one another in the music video, they become closer, and their unique colors are amplified. The somewhat mundane world that they endured up to that point becomes all the more magical when they are together.
Let’s Spread Love Together
Writer’s note: The fandom name S2U is read as HeartsU in English or 하츄 (Hachu) in Korean.
The official social media announcement for “STYLE” might’ve come on June 11th, but a stealthy round of promotions began prior — resulting in a total of three rousing phases for the rollout. With great anticipation blooming for their first comeback, Hearts2Hearts made sure to keep S2Us (Hearts2Hearts’ fandom) on their toes with spoilers and interactive activities.

Aside from brief mentions by the members during fancalls and live broadcasts, the octet primarily gave hints about their newest track through Instagram. On June 5th, a post featuring the members forming a heart with their feet was released, which marked the beginning of their #heartsinyourstyle campaign, where for two days, the members flooded fans’ feeds with heart signs in various styles. “We want to fill your world with hearts,” they stated in the initial caption.
Following a welcomed attack of hearts, the group reimagined a popular TikTok trend in the second phase of their promotions. Each of the eight members was given a disposable camera and asked to take photos of the world as they see it — through their own unique lens. In a similar style to phase one, fans’ feeds were flooded once more with photos that showcased various points of view of the group’s time in California for the SMTOWN Live 2025 Concert and Wango Tango. “Guess whose style?” each of the captions stated.
“Now that your world is filled with hearts, I’m curious to see your style.” In the third phase, it was finally time for S2Us to show their unique style through an interactive photo booth that was shared via Instagram. When fans access the photobooth website, they can take photos to their heart’s desire and decorate them with a wide selection of adorable frames and stickers. If you are camera-shy, that’s okay, as there is an opportunity to decorate the group’s official teaser images instead.
Lucky enough for S2U, the fun times don’t stop here. On May 7, SM Entertainment shared a preview of upcoming music to expect, which includes a Hearts2Hearts mini album slated for release during the third quarter of 2025.
