French legacy house Saint Laurent made its much-awaited comeback to in-person runways on September 28. Other than the breathtaking location of the show at Jardins du Trocadéro—with the Eiffel Tower in the background—Saint Laurent raised expectations for the attendance of BLACKPINK’s Rosé. The singer, who is the brand’s Global Ambassador, made a splash at her first Fashion Week appearance since 2019.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, Anthony Vaccarello, Saint Laurent’s Creative Director, presented his past collections through spectacular films. This season, however, the fashion cycle seems to have fully returned to present events. For his official comeback to Parisian runways, Vaccarello chose to honor Yves Saint Laurent’s muse, Paloma Picasso. Known for her pivotal role on YSL’s “Scandal” collection, the daughter of Pablo Picasso was a recognized IT-Girl back in her days. The Creative Director paid homage to her influence through a collection where skin-tight jumpsuits, broad-shouldered jackets, and pops of color predominated.
“We always talk about Betty Catroux and Catherine Deneuve–those amazing icons–but Paloma was the only one who really changed Yves Saint Laurent’s perception of fashion,” Vaccarello said when explaining his inspiration for the collection. “When he met her, with her huge red lips, dressed in vintage, she was really new for him. It changed his own style. In my mind, I want to have the same change after the pandemic.”
Rosé and Saint Laurent’s Love Affair
To honor such an important figure in the shaping of Saint Laurent’s style, an exclusive list of VIPs graced the front row of the show. Among them, Saint Laurent’s current darling, BLACKPINK’s Rosé, surely stole the spotlight.
Dressed in a chic mini black dress, high knee boots, and her signature ponytail, Rosé became the main attraction of the night. The idol, who is known for her close friendship with Anthony Vaccarello, opted for a gold choker and dark makeup to add a splash of rocker chic to her style. As one might expect, the breathtaking result caused a frenzy upon her arrival at the show’s venue. Photographed by magazines, editors, and fans, the celebrity joined industry insiders and celebrities to watch Vaccarello’s latest collection.

Fans Were “On The Ground”
Other than the usual Fashion Week furor online, fans took the chance to demonstrate their love for Rosé in unique ways. Chanting her name, loyal fans of her group waited for the star’s arrival around the show’s venue. They later bid her goodbye by singing her hit single, “On The Ground,” as she left the premises.

The Only Way Is Forward
The relationship between Rosé and the French fashion house, Saint Laurent, has come a long way. From the star’s first invitation to Paris Fashion Week to making history at the MET Gala in a Saint Laurent dress, the partnership has become one of the most successful team-ups in the world of fashion. After attending her first in-person show as the label’s Global Ambassador, Rosé is likely to continue her duties in upcoming events. For the time being, she shared relatable Instagram stories after the show, won the hearts of the fashion crowd, and gave fans a reason to sing and smile.
As the saying goes about fashion, Rosė goes only one direction: forward.
