Nearly two years after the release of The Album, BLACKPINK revealed a first-look into their upcoming comeback with the announcement trailer titled “Born Pink.” With three major schedules featured in the video, the pre-release schedule is set for August, full album in September, and a world tour in October.

Announced through YG’s official Twitter account on August 1 at 12 PM KST, BLACKPINK’s official Twitter header has been changed to “Born Pink,” initiating an official start to a new era. Additionally, BLACKPINK’s official Instagram account shared a series of posts highlighting the comeback.

The teaser features a striking animation that builds up to the title “Born Pink.” Keeping to their chic yet refrained ‘girl-crush’ concept, the teaser highlights pink smoke in a more ominous setting. Accompanied by a percussion build-up, text is drawn out from the shadows, reminding viewers that BLACKPINK are officially back.

BLINKs Run Pink With Love

Shortly after the announcement, the hashtag #BLACKPINK trended at number one worldwide, with BLINKs pouring their support for the group. Accumulating over 208K likes on Twitter in over an hour, excitement outpoured on the platform.

Moving Forward as BLACKPINK

Over the last two years, BLACKPINK members have solidified their solo careers in varying areas across the industry.

Notable achievements include Rosé’s solo album R’s title track “On The Ground” becoming the first to top Billboard global charts as a soloist. Additionally, the single debuted at No.1 on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. Starring on the cover of Vogue Australia, Rosé has become the face of many fashion magazines over the last year. From Bazaar to Dazed, she has sported Tiffany and Co. and YSL following her ambassadorships for both brands.

Lisa’s solo album LALISA achieved the highest first week sales by a female solo artist on Hanteo. The music video for LALISA entered the most viewed female music video within 24 hours just under BLACKPINK’s “How You Like That” and “Ice Cream.” In addition to music, Lisa became the global ambassador for CELINE, attending Paris fashion shows with BTS’ V and actor Park Bo-gum. Venturing into make-up, Lisa collaborated with MAC for a line titled “MAC X L.” Announced as the first-ever K-pop ambassador for MAC, she released an eccentric collection with purple eye-catching packaging.

Notably, Jisoo made her acting debut with the JTBC drama “Snowdrop.” Playing the role of Eun Yeong-ro, she falls in love with Im Soo-ho (Jung Hae-in) as the show follows a story set in 1987 Seoul. Later awarded Best New Actress at the 2nd DDU Awards in Thailand, Jisoo’s performance goes without mention. Ranking first on Disney+ in Korea earlier this year, “Snowdrop” also topped charts across Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Japan. In the fashion world, Jisoo became Cartier’s official brand ambassador earlier this year, joining the Panthère de Cartier community.

Jennie also made further strides into the world of fashion. Attending the 2022 Paris Fashion Week under Chanel, she joined stars from across the entertainment industry to sit front row at the show. Not to mention, Jennie also collaborated with Gentle Monster for a new collection titled “Jentle Garden.” Beginning on February 22 2022, fans were able to grow a virtual garden with Jennie for a mobile game event. Additionally, Jennie is set to make her acting debut in HBO’s series “The Idol” alongside The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp.

BLACKPINK X PUBG Mobile’s “Ready for Love”

Released on July 29, “Ready for Love” was a collaboration between BLACKPINK and the game PUBG Mobile. Lending their voices to the game, virtual versions of the girls were created as well. The music video features the BLACKPINK members in a cyber-core setting. While the members go through the ups and downs of the virtual world, a new choreography is featured between each shot. “Ready for Love” fits into the EDM concept but remains synonymous with the group’s style.

While collaborating with PUBG Mobile, a virtual tour was announced via Twitter. North and South America dates were set for July 22-23 and July 29-30, whereas those for the rest of the world were set for July 23-24 and July 30-31. BLINKs (fans of BLACKPINK) were invited to download the PUBG Mobile app and navigate through the concert resource pack.

Following the concert, virtual fancams of each member were posted through PUBG Mobile’s official Twitter account. Additionally, group contents were uploaded to the platform following virtual achievements, performances, and exclusive contents specialized for PUBG Mobile.

Moving forward, BLACKPINK are set to continue activities as a group for the upcoming months. With further contents for the comeback yet to be released, BLINKs are sure to break records with each release.
