Velvet smooth vocals, killer choreography and A-list visuals summarize the highly-anticipated debut of MONSTA X’s first unit, SHOWNU X HYUNGWON. Titled “Love Me A Little,” the leading song of their first EP (The Unseen) is a sultry R&B pop song that showcases Shownu and Hyungwon’s sensuality and charisma.

Dancing to the beat of their velour melodies, the singers channeled 007 in their debut music video—a fiery launch to their unit’s stardom. Tousled piecey hair, classic suiting, and vintage cars created an atmosphere fitting for the James Bond franchise. EnVi deep dives into the newest K-pop duo and what makes them look like the ultimate spy movie leading men in “Love Me A Little.”

Effortless Natural Beauty

The members of MONSTA X are no strangers to smokey eye makeup and just-bitten lips, but this time au naturel was the look of choice. Engulfed in silky smooth vocals, Shownu lay atop a bed looking fresh-faced. His makeup, achieved through an ingenious application of foundation and concealer, created an undetectable K-beauty contoured effect set with a matte powder. Complementing this minimal base routine, a wash of cashmere tan eyeshadow was diffused on the upper and lower lids. The leader’s eyebrows were then shaped with brown powder for a neat look. Tinted rosy lip balm was the finishing touch for this effortless glam that channeled leading Hollywood hunks of decades past.

Tousled Spiked Hair

With a nod to current hair trends and many Bond men of the past, SHOWNU X HYUNGWON also experimented with the tousled hair look. Oozing with confidence, Hyungwon sings the R&B tune while gazing through spikey, wet bangs. After a few swipes of pomade and a comb, the vocalist sits in a vintage car—allowing fans to indulge in his smooth vocals and impeccable hairstyle. The look perfectly aligns with the beauty trends spotted on the runways of the most recent Men’s Fashion Week, where brands like Hermés and Dries Van Noten opted for natural hair looks to accompany elegant fits and quiet luxury aesthetics.

Exceptional Suiting

Exceptional suiting and sequence collide for a decadent fashion dynamo in this music video. Fit for the next action flick, Shownu radiates confidence in a simple black suit jacket, white shirt and tie. These fashion classics serve as the quintessential masculine fit in the dark and dramatic music video.

In contrast, Hyungwon adopts summer-friendly dapper dressing, cloaked in a black and silver pinstripe blazer. The date night-approved staple was paired with a black floral dress shirt, for a 1980s-inspired outfit.

Delicate, exuberant sparkles

Juxtaposing their sophisticated suits, the next sequence shows Shownu and Hyungwon dancing the night away in sparkly ensembles — another menswear trend spotted on the European runways. Shownu’s outfit features a blazer with bold shiny pinstripes, while Hyungwon goes for a more unconventional take with a tie-up top that features flouncy sleeves and microbeads cascading from his shoulders.

The members appear a final time in velvet azure ensembles topped off with embellishments and scarf details. Shownu sports a short-sleeved velvet shirt decorated with beading, while Hyungwon’s outfit features a deep blue, fitted blazer coated in sparkles.

Shop A Little

If the task was reinventing the style of heartthrobs from spy-themed productions, then Shownu and Hyungwon clearly understood the assignment.
