Every time the fashion elite flocks to the world’s fashion capital, we can count on Dior’s Darling, Jisoo Kim, to make a style statement. Spotted at Dior’s Fall Winter 2024 show in Paris on February 27, the pop star officially gave her seal of approval to what’s anticipated to be thee accessory of the year: the necktie.

The Year of Neckties

It’s official, the necktie is the must-have accessory for 2024.

Fashion media, ourselves included, has been anticipating the rise of the necktie since as early as 2023. We’ve seen the accessory taking flight on the runways of brands such as Prada, Thom Browne and Valentino and slowly infiltrating the front rows and streets of Fashion Week. Now, the world’s ultimate arbiter of good taste, Jisoo, officially declared that neckties are in.

Consistent with her reputation as one of Dior’s Media Impact Value driving forces, Jisoo had everybody talking upon her arrival in Jardin de Tuileries. And it wasn’t just her star power that attracted attention. Reinterpreting the corporatecore style taking over the runways with a preppy touch and a subtle nod to the TikTok viral coquette trend, Jisoo’s front-row outfit was deliciously chic. The singer paired mini shorts and a classic white shirt with a single-breasted jacket adorned with four box pleat pockets.

Providing inspiration for our Pinterest boards, Jisoo tied everything together with a dot-printed necktie. Now, in case you’ve missed it, the necktie is having a moment in womenswear — some, even call 2024 “the year of the tie” — so the styling choice was not only fitting but also timely to endorse what’s anticipated to become one of the biggest trends of the season. Additionally, Jisoo offered lessons on how to incorporate another budding trend (polka dots) into our wardrobe without committing to full looks or eye-popping pieces.

A preppy, coquette twist

Continuing her love affair with all things preppy and feminine, Jisoo accessorized her look with a pair of mid-calf socks and two-tone platforms that combined the charm of Mary Janes and Oxford shoes. To top off the look, the singer sported a classic Lady Dior bag.

Beauty-wise, the “Flower” singer gave a nod to the coquette trend with a feminine hairstyle — braided pigtails adorned with bows — and rosey-toned makeup. As the final touch of cool, Jisoo wore a nail staple she has championed in previous Paris Fashion Week appearances: black nail lacquer.

Part school girl chic, part corporate baddie — which might be fitting considering she recently stepped into the role of CEO — Jisoo’s look showcased her keen sense of style and ability to stay ahead of trends.
