Gucci presented its Cruise 2024 collection at the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul on May 16. The collection fittingly merged past and present, bringing the Italian label’s heritage to a site of historical significance for South Korea. The show also commemorated 25 years since the opening of Gucci’s first store in Seoul and celebrated the brand’s bond with local talent. Needless to say, the event was star-studded, with stars from across the globe flaunting their best Gucci fits. In particular, global ambassadors IU and Hanni made notable appearances at the show, putting their personal spin on monochromatic dressing for the front row. 

IU’s Floral Ensemble

K-pop soloist and Gucci darling IU has attended various events as one of the brand’s global ambassadors. The star often sports trendy pieces from the brand’s latest collections and her appearance at the Cruise 2024 show was no different. The singer wore a white mesh set consisting of a slightly cropped button-up top and matching midi-length pencil skirt, embroidered with yellow flowers. The look originally belonged to the label’s Fall 2023 Ready-to-Wear collection

IU paired this floral ensemble with a yellow Jackie 1961 mini bag and the Women’s high-heel pump. She kept her makeup simple and adorned her hair with two hair clips. The resulting look complemented IU’s image as a Gucci ambassador: feminine, sophisticated, and yet, modern.

Hanni’s Modest Look 

Another K-pop force to be reckoned with, NewJeans member Hanni also graced the front row of Gucci’s Cruise show. Since her appointment as ambassador, the young singer has promoted and attended runway shows and participated in the Gucci Horsebit 1955 bag global campaign.  

For the event, Hanni opted for a simple and modest look also courtesy of Gucci’s Fall 2023 collection — a show Hanni attended, garnering a staggering $676K in Media Impact Value™ (MIV®) with an Instagram post. For her first Gucci Cruise show, Hanni wore a textured long-sleeved collared dress, as featured on the runway. The piece’s midi-length, form-fitting skirt was defined at the waist with a thin black belt that created a classic Gucci silhouette. 

As for accessories, Hanni brought the white Gucci Horsebit 1955 purse and matched it with sunflower earrings. Gucci monogram pattern tights and the Women’s platform slide sandal bestowed the look a youthful edge, reflecting Hanni’s status as one of the brand’s youngest ambassadors.

Gucci Cruise 2024

With summer fast approaching, fashion houses are debuting their awaited cruise and resort collections, inspired by warm weather and luxurious vacation destinations. Gucci’s Cruise 2024 show celebrated past aspirations and future traditions in Seoul. Many of the brand’s friends and ambassadors attended the show, creating a star-studded night of celebration. Global ambassadors IU and Hanni were just two of the many familiar faces spotted at Gyeongbokgung Palace on Tuesday, but they stood out with a timeless styling trick: you can never go wrong with monochromatic outfits.
